Stanton Cross Enrichment Activities
Children who attend Stanton Cross can also expect the adults that they work with to make their Primary School days filled with fun and excitement, bringing their learning to life and making lifelong memories. This sometimes involves learning outside of the classroom. Below are just a few examples of the way we enrich children's time at our school.
Hamerton Zoo Visit
Our Reception children visit Hamerton Zoo in the Summer term, applying their knowledge of animals similarities and differences and also looking at their habitats. The children enjoy their time visiting the Zoo and looking at all the wild and wonderful animals on show.
Seaside Visit
When they are in Year One, children visit Hunstanton in the Summer term, applying their geographical knowledge of physical and human features, whilst also celebrating their hard work across the year. Building sandcastles, enjoying an ice cream and embracing the choppy waves of the Norfolk coast is where memories are made and a brilliant way to celebrate the end of a fantastic year of learning!
Woburn Safari Park
Children in Year 2 visit Woburn Safari Park in the Summer term. This is to support their understanding of animals, adaptations and their habitats. The children enjoy this trip, almost as much as the staff.
History Workshops
Throughout the year, children in Years 1 and 2 participate in a series of engaging and interactive History workshops, delivered by providers such as 'Off the Page' or 'Portals to the Past'. These workshops offer a hands-on approach, allowing students to immerse themselves in history through role-playing, exploring historical artifacts, and participating in activities that bring different time periods to life. By stepping into the shoes of people from the past, the children gain a deeper understanding of history, fostering curiosity and a lasting connection to each topic they explore.
